Nigerian singer and songwriter Simi and DJ Consequence have been added to the lineup for Move Afrika: Lagos, an event organized by Global Citizen. The concert is scheduled to take place on February 25, 2025, at The Palms in Lagos, with Grammy-winning artist John Legend headlining the show.
Move Afrika is a pan-African touring circuit aimed at boosting Africa’s creative economy, generating job opportunities, and fostering economic investment. The initiative also serves as a platform for advocacy, with a strong focus on strengthening health systems across the continent.
This year’s event marks an expansion from East to West Africa, as Nigeria joins Rwanda as a host country. The 2025 edition of Move Afrika will support a citizen-led advocacy campaign promoting sustainable development and economic growth, particularly in the healthcare sector.
Global Citizen, in collaboration with campaign partners, is urging African governments to increase domestic health financing, improve primary healthcare, and advance sexual and reproductive health rights. The initiative also aims to attract global investments to enhance healthcare resilience across the continent.

Move Afrika is part of Global Citizen’s broader efforts to address global inequities by creating job and entrepreneurship opportunities through live music events. The initiative will engage local artists, vendors, and production crews, while providing training and skill development opportunities.
Past Global Citizen events in Africa include Move Afrika: Rwanda at BK Arena in 2023, the Mandela 100 Festival in Johannesburg in 2018, and Global Citizen Live: Lagos in 2021. With Move Afrika: Lagos, the initiative continues to drive economic and social change through entertainment.
